It combines simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless operation with 2×2 MIMO, MU-MIMO, two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and Power over Ethernet. Ruijie Cloud management, Self-Organizing Network technology and Wi-Fi Intelligent Optimization are also supported to simplify deployment and ongoing network management. The RG-RAP1201 is particularly important to distinguish from the similar RG-RAP1200(F). While the RG-RAP1200(F) has Fast Ethernet interfaces, the RG-RAP1201 provides two 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports. Key Features Wi-Fi 5 / IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2 technology Simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless operation Up to 1266Mbps combined theoretical wireless rate Up to 400Mbps on 2.4GHz Up to 866Mbps on 5GHz 2×2 MIMO on both wireless bands Four spatial streams across the dual-radio design MU-MIMO support Two integrated omnidirectional antennas 2 × 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet ports PoE / PoE+ powered operation No separate local DC power input No PoE output or PoE passthrough Maximum power consumption of 9W Ruijie Cloud management Self-Organizing Network support Wi-Fi Intelligent Optimization Compact 86mm wall-plate format IP41 indoor protection rating Dual-Band Wi-Fi 5 Performance The RG-RAP1201 is based on Wi-Fi 5 and IEEE 802.11ac Wave 2 technology. It operates simultaneously across the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands, allowing compatible client devices to connect using the most appropriate available band. The 2.4GHz radio uses 2×2 MIMO and provides a manufacturer-rated maximum wireless data rate of up to 400Mbps. The 5GHz radio also uses 2×2 MIMO and provides a maximum theoretical rate of up to 866Mbps. Together, these produce a detailed specification total of 1266Mbps. Ruijie markets the model as a 1267Mbps access point, but customers should understand that these figures represent theoretical wireless radio link rates rather than guaranteed internet or application throughput. Actual performance depends on the connected client, channel width, signal strength, interference, network traffic, internet service, cabling and upstream network equipment. Two Gigabit Ethernet Ports A major advantage of the RG-RAP1201 over the RG-RAP1200(F) is its upgraded wired connectivity. The RG-RAP1201 provides two 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. This allows the wired network connection to operate at up to a nominal 1Gbps link rate when connected to compatible Gigabit network equipment and suitable cabling. Gigabit Ethernet does not mean that every wireless client will achieve 1Gbps of real throughput. The final speed still depends on the wireless link, network infrastructure, client hardware and internet connection. 2×2 MIMO and MU-MIMO Both wireless radios use a 2×2 MIMO configuration. Across the dual-radio design, Ruijie lists four spatial streams in total. MU-MIMO support under 802.11ac Wave 2 is designed to improve wireless efficiency when multiple compatible client devices are active on the network. This makes the RG-RAP1201 suitable for environments such as hotel rooms, apartments and offices where users may connect smartphones, tablets, laptops, televisions and other Wi-Fi devices at the same time. MU-MIMO requires compatible client devices and should not be interpreted as guaranteeing maximum advertised speed simultaneously to every connected device. Integrated Dual-Band Antennas The access point uses two integrated omnidirectional antennas serving the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless bands. The built-in antenna design helps maintain the clean appearance expected from a wall-mounted access point while avoiding exposed external antennas. Wireless coverage is installation dependent. Wall construction, neighbouring wireless networks, electrical interference, furniture, mounting position and client-device capability can all affect usable range and performance. PoE-Powered Installation The RG-RAP1201 is designed to receive power through compatible Power over Ethernet equipment. Ruijie's current product specification lists PoE/PoE+ as the supported power arrangement. This allows electrical power and network connectivity to be provided through the Ethernet infrastructure, helping simplify wall-mounted installations where a separate mains adapter would be inconvenient. No separate local DC power input is provided. The access point therefore requires suitable PoE network equipment or an appropriate PoE injector for operation. Maximum rated power consumption is 9W. The RG-RAP1201 does not provide a PoE output budget. It should not be confused with the separate RG-RAP1200(P), which is designed with additional Ethernet interfaces and PoE passthrough functionality. Ruijie Cloud Management Ruijie Cloud management is supported for centralised configuration, monitoring and maintenance of compatible Reyee network equipment. The platform provides supported functions including centralised network management, scenario-based configuration, cloud portal authentication and remote monitoring and maintenance. Self-Organizing Network technology can help simplify deployment of compatible Reyee equipment, while Wi-Fi Intelligent Optimization is designed to assist with optimisation of wireless-network settings. Cloud functionality can depend on firmware, account configuration, internet connectivity and the current services provided by Ruijie. Wireless Client Capacity Ruijie lists a maximum association limit of 64 wireless clients on the 2.4GHz radio and 110 clients on the 5GHz radio. With both bands enabled, the manufacturer's stated overall maximum remains 110 associated wireless clients. These figures are technical association limits rather than recommended numbers of simultaneous high-bandwidth users. For installations with many active users, network design should consider expected traffic, applications, available internet bandwidth, interference and whether additional access points are required. Compact Wall-Mounted Design The RG-RAP1201 measures approximately 86 × 42.4 × 86mm and weighs no more than approximately 0.16kg without packaging. Its compact wall-access-point format is intended for junction-box installation and is particularly suitable for hotel rooms, bedrooms, apartments and smaller office spaces. The housing is finished in white for a discreet appearance in typical indoor environments. Indoor IP41 Protection The access point carries an IP41 rating and is designed for indoor deployment. It should not be marketed as an outdoor or weatherproof wireless access point. Ruijie specifies an operating-temperature range from 0°C to 40°C. The device should be installed in a suitable dry indoor location and protected from rain, water ingress, excessive condensation and unsuitable environmental conditions.
