16 Gigabit PoE Camera Ports

The DS-3E1520HP-SI-16P2T2F provides sixteen 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit RJ45 PoE interfaces. Compatible IP cameras and other supported network devices can receive network data and electrical power through a single suitable Ethernet cable.

Unlike Fast Ethernet CCTV switches limited to 100Mbps at the camera ports, all sixteen PoE interfaces on this model support Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. This makes the switch particularly suitable for professional installations involving multiple high-resolution IP cameras, higher network traffic or other Gigabit-capable devices.

Four 90W IEEE 802.3bt Hi-PoE Ports

Ports 1 to 4 are the switch's high-power Hi-PoE interfaces. These ports support IEEE 802.3af, IEEE 802.3at and IEEE 802.3bt, with Hikvision specifying a maximum output of up to 90W from an individual compatible port.

This makes these four ports suitable for compatible higher-power equipment such as selected PTZ cameras and other network devices whose power requirements exceed standard PoE+ capability.

The 90W figure applies to the maximum capability of an individual compatible Hi-PoE port. It does not mean that all four Hi-PoE ports can each provide 90W simultaneously, because all sixteen PoE interfaces share the switch's total 230W PoE budget.

12 Additional PoE+ Camera Ports

Ports 5 to 16 support IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at Power over Ethernet, with a maximum individual port output of up to 30W.

These interfaces are suitable for a wide range of conventional PoE and PoE+ IP cameras and other compatible network devices.

The combined power requirement of all devices connected to ports 1 to 16 must remain within the switch's overall 230W PoE budget.

230W Total PoE Power Budget

The current Hikvision specification lists a total available PoE budget of 230W.

This is a shared power budget across the complete group of sixteen powered interfaces. Installers should calculate the maximum possible consumption of all connected equipment rather than simply adding the maximum output capability of each individual port.

This product should not be advertised as having a 240W PoE budget. Earlier Hikvision material listed 240W, but the current July 2026 manufacturer specification has revised the total budget to 230W.

Two Additional Gigabit RJ45 Interfaces

Two additional 10/100/1000Mbps RJ45 interfaces are provided in addition to the sixteen powered camera ports.

These non-PoE Gigabit network interfaces can be used for suitable uplink, cascade, recorder or wider LAN connections according to the network design.

Two Gigabit SFP Fibre Slots

The switch also provides two 10/100/1000Mbps SFP interfaces for compatible fibre-optic network modules.

Fibre connectivity can be particularly useful when switches need to be linked over longer distances, between separate buildings or in environments where electrical isolation and resistance to electromagnetic interference are desirable.

The presence of SFP slots does not mean that SFP transceiver modules or fibre cables are automatically included with the switch. They should only be advertised as supplied when they form part of the specific retail package.

Up to 300m Long-Range PoE

Ports 1 to 16 support Hikvision long-range transmission with a manufacturer-rated distance of up to 300 metres under suitable conditions.

This can be useful for CCTV installations in large warehouses, car parks, yards, factories, schools and other sites where a camera needs to be located beyond a conventional Ethernet cable run.

The 300m figure is a manufacturer-rated maximum rather than a guaranteed result for every installation. Hikvision states that performance may vary depending on the camera model and cable condition. Gigabit data rate should also not be assumed at the maximum long-range distance unless the required operating mode specifically supports it.

PoE Watchdog

PoE Watchdog operates across ports 1 to 16 and can automatically detect an attached camera that stops responding. The switch can restart the relevant PoE interface in an attempt to restore communication.

This can reduce unnecessary site visits where a camera simply needs to be power-cycled. PoE Watchdog cannot repair damaged cameras, faulty cables or other physical hardware problems.

802.1Q VLAN and Port Isolation

The switch supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN configuration with VLAN IDs from 1 to 4094, Access and Trunk modes and support for up to 4094 VLANs.

VLAN functionality allows installers and network administrators to logically separate different types of traffic, helping create more organised CCTV and business networks.

Port isolation is also available across the switch interfaces. Devices placed within an isolation group can be prevented from communicating directly with one another while still communicating with permitted ports outside the group.

STP, RSTP and Loop Prevention

IEEE 802.1D STP and IEEE 802.1w RSTP are supported to help protect suitable network topologies against switching loops.

Network loops can create broadcast storms and severely disrupt network communication, particularly on systems containing several interconnected switches. Loop-prevention functionality is disabled by default and should be configured appropriately for the network design.

Static Link Aggregation

Static link aggregation is supported with up to eight aggregation groups.

Link aggregation can combine suitable physical network links into logical connections for functions such as aggregate bandwidth, load distribution and link protection. Both ends of the connection must support and be configured for the required aggregation arrangement.

QoS and Traffic Management

Quality of Service functionality allows traffic to be prioritised according to network requirements. The switch supports port-based priority configuration together with SP and WRR priority scheduling.

Port rate limiting is also available to help manage bandwidth and reduce network congestion.

Storm Control and DHCP Snooping

Storm control helps prevent network ports from being overwhelmed by broadcast, multicast or unknown unicast traffic.

DHCP snooping can help protect the network from unauthorised DHCP servers by controlling which ports are trusted to forward DHCP server traffic.

Network Security Functions

The DS-3E1520HP-SI-16P2T2F provides additional network-security functions including Access Control Lists and IP Source Guard.

ACL functionality can be used to define suitable filtering rules based on parameters such as MAC addresses, IP addresses and protocol types, while IP Source Guard can help control endpoint access using port, MAC and IP binding.

Hik-Partner Pro Remote Management

The switch supports one-click activation and remote management through Hik-Partner Pro.

Supported monitoring functions include port rate, bandwidth utilisation, PoE power usage, network topology and alarm status. Supported remote operations include restarting ports and devices, enabling long-range mode and performing remote upgrades.

Remote functionality depends on compatible software, firmware, internet connectivity and appropriate account configuration.

Web, Hik-Central Pro and SNMP Management

Device management through a web interface is supported, together with compatible Hik-Central Pro deployments.

SNMP v1 and v2c support allows integration with compatible third-party network-management platforms.

The switch supports DHCP Client operation for dynamic assignment of its management IP address and also provides Hikvision's fixed Super IP address of 10.180.190.200 for direct management access when required.

Cable Diagnostics, LLDP and Port Mirroring

Cable detection can help identify abnormal open circuits, short circuits and approximate network cable length.

IEEE 802.1ab LLDP provides peer-device discovery, while port mirroring can assist network engineers with diagnostics and fault investigation.

56Gbps Switching Capacity

Hikvision's current specification lists whole-device switching capacity at 56Gbps and port-performance switching capacity at 40Gbps.

The switch also provides an 8K MAC address table and approximately 4.1Mbits of internal cache.

6kV Surge Protection

Hikvision specifies 6kV surge protection to provide additional resilience against transient electrical events within the manufacturer's specified test conditions.

Built-in surge protection does not replace appropriate earthing, electrical installation practices or additional external lightning and surge-protection equipment where required.

Rack-Mountable Metal Design

The DS-3E1520HP-SI-16P2T2F uses a metal enclosure measuring approximately 440 × 44 × 220.8mm.

It can be installed on a desktop or in a suitable equipment rack using its rack-mounting arrangement. The switch has a manufacturer-listed net weight of approximately 2.735kg and gross packaged weight of approximately 3.31kg.

Power and Operating Environment

The current July 2026 specification lists a 100-240V AC, 50/60Hz, 4A power input.

Maximum overall electrical consumption is specified at 250W, while idle consumption is approximately 20W. The 250W overall consumption figure must not be confused with the 230W PoE budget available to connected devices.

The current specified operating-temperature range is 0°C to 45°C, with storage from -40°C to 85°C and humidity from 5% to 95% under non-condensing conditions.
