Eight PoE Ports for IP CCTV Cameras

Ports 1 to 8 provide 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet connectivity together with Power over Ethernet. Compatible Hikvision IP cameras and other IEEE 802.3af or IEEE 802.3at devices can receive network data and electrical power through one suitable Ethernet cable.

This can make CCTV installation considerably cleaner by reducing the need for individual local camera power supplies. The eight PoE ports can connect multiple cameras to the network while the separate Gigabit RJ45 port provides an uplink to suitable recording or network equipment.

The eight camera-side interfaces are Fast Ethernet rather than Gigabit Ethernet. This distinction should remain clear throughout the product listing.

Dedicated Gigabit RJ45 Uplink

In addition to the eight 10/100Mbps PoE interfaces, the DS-3E1309P-EI provides one Gigabit RJ45 network port.

The Gigabit interface can be used for a suitable uplink to an NVR, router, server or another network switch. Using a higher-speed uplink helps aggregate traffic from multiple camera ports without limiting the uplink itself to a 100Mbps Fast Ethernet connection.

The presence of a Gigabit uplink does not make the eight PoE camera interfaces Gigabit. They remain 10/100Mbps ports.

110W Total PoE Power Budget

Hikvision specifies a total PoE power budget of 110W across ports 1 to 8.

An individual compatible PoE port can provide up to 30W under IEEE 802.3af/at operation, subject to the 110W total shared limit. The switch cannot provide 30W simultaneously from every port if doing so would exceed the overall PoE budget.

Before installation, the maximum rated PoE consumption of every connected camera should be checked. This is particularly important when using cameras with powerful infrared illumination, heaters or other higher-power functions.

PoE Watchdog for Camera Reliability

PoE Watchdog is available across ports 1 to 8 and is designed to detect connected cameras that stop responding.

If an applicable camera becomes unresponsive, the switch can automatically restart the corresponding PoE port in an attempt to restore communication. This can reduce the need for an installer or site operator to physically disconnect and reconnect power simply to reboot a camera.

PoE Watchdog is a recovery aid rather than a guarantee that every failure can be resolved automatically. Failed hardware, damaged cabling and configuration problems may still require investigation.

Up to 300m Long-Range PoE Transmission

Hikvision specifies long-range PoE transmission of up to 300 metres across ports 1 to 8 when the appropriate extended mode is enabled.

This can be useful for CCTV installations where cameras are located significantly farther from the network equipment than in a conventional Ethernet installation, including car parks, yards, agricultural sites, warehouses and larger commercial properties.

The 300m figure is a manufacturer-rated maximum. Actual performance can vary depending on the camera model, network cable quality, cable termination and installation conditions.

Port Isolation for CCTV Network Security

Ports 1 to 8 support port isolation. Devices within the isolation group are prevented from communicating directly with one another while remaining able to communicate with ports outside the group.

This can be useful in CCTV networks where cameras only need to communicate with an NVR or uplink and do not need direct camera-to-camera access.

IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Support

The DS-3E1309P-EI supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN configuration for logical separation of network traffic.

Hikvision specifies configurable VLAN IDs from 1 to 4094 together with Access and Trunk port modes.

VLAN functionality can help installers create a more organised network and separate CCTV devices or other network traffic where required.

STP and RSTP Loop Prevention

The switch supports IEEE 802.1D Spanning Tree Protocol and IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol.

These functions are designed to protect suitable network topologies against switching loops, which could otherwise generate excessive traffic and severely interrupt network communication.

Hikvision specifies that loop prevention is disabled by default, so appropriate configuration is required when the installation needs it.

Hik-Partner Pro Remote Management

The DS-3E1309P-EI supports one-click activation and remote management through Hik-Partner Pro.

Supported monitoring functions include displaying individual port rates, bandwidth utilisation, PoE power usage, network topology and alarm status.

Supported remote operations include restarting ports and connected devices, enabling long-range mode and remotely upgrading the switch.

Remote management functionality depends on compatible firmware, internet connectivity, account configuration and supported Hikvision services.

Web Management and Hik-Central Pro

The switch can also be managed through its web interface and through compatible Hik-Central Pro deployments.

DHCP Client operation is supported and enabled by default for dynamic management-IP assignment. Hikvision also provides a fixed Super IP address of 10.180.190.200 for direct management access where required.

Cable Diagnostics, LLDP and Port Mirroring

Integrated cable diagnostics can help identify abnormal open circuits, short circuits and approximate Ethernet cable length.

IEEE 802.1ab LLDP is supported for peer-device discovery, while port mirroring provides an additional diagnostic tool for analysing selected network traffic and locating faults.

Network Performance

Hikvision specifies an 8K MAC address table and 4Mbit internal cache.

The current technical specification distinguishes between whole-device and port-performance figures. Whole-device switching capacity is listed at 5.6Gbps with a 4.17Mpps forwarding rate, while port-performance figures are listed at 3.6Gbps and 2.68Mpps respectively.

These values describe the switch's processing capability and should not be confused with individual camera-port speed. Ports 1 to 8 remain 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet interfaces.

6kV Surge Protection

The DS-3E1309P-EI provides manufacturer-rated 6kV surge protection to improve resilience against electrical transients within the relevant test conditions.

Integrated surge protection does not replace correct electrical installation, proper earthing or additional lightning and surge-protection equipment where required by the site.

Fan-Free Metal Construction

The switch uses a metal enclosure with a fan-free design, helping reduce mechanical noise and removing the need for a cooling fan in normal specified operation.

It supports both desktop and wall-mounted installation and measures approximately 170 × 27.6 × 93.1mm.

Manufacturer-listed net weight is approximately 0.35kg, while packaged gross weight is approximately 1.114kg.

Power and Operating Environment

The DS-3E1309P-EI uses a 54V DC, 2.22A power input.

Maximum overall power consumption is specified at 120W, while the available PoE power budget is 110W. These are different specifications and should not be combined or presented as though the switch provides 120W to connected PoE devices.

Hikvision lists idle power consumption at approximately 10W.

The operating-temperature range is 0°C to 40°C, with storage from -40°C to 85°C and humidity from 5% to 95% under non-condensing conditions.
