The Hikvision DS-3E1105P-EI V2 is a compact 4-port Smart Managed PoE switch designed for professional IP CCTV and small network installations. It provides four 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Power over Ethernet ports for compatible IP cameras and network devices, together with one additional 10/100Mbps RJ45 network port for connection to an NVR, router, another switch or the wider local network.

Four PoE Ports for IP CCTV Cameras

Ports 1 to 4 provide 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet connectivity together with Power over Ethernet. Compatible Hikvision IP cameras and other IEEE 802.3af or IEEE 802.3at devices can receive both electrical power and network data through the same suitable Ethernet cable.

This can simplify CCTV installation by reducing the need for a separate local power supply at each camera position. In a typical four-camera system, the cameras can connect directly to the PoE switch while the additional network port connects the switch to a compatible NVR or local network.

The DS-3E1105P-EI V2 is a Fast Ethernet switch. It should not be advertised as providing Gigabit connectivity. The four PoE interfaces and the additional RJ45 network interface operate at 10/100Mbps.

60W Total PoE Power Budget

Hikvision specifies a maximum combined PoE power budget of 60W across ports 1 to 4.

An individual compatible PoE port can provide up to 30W, but the 60W capacity is shared across all four powered ports. This means the combined maximum power requirements of all connected cameras must remain within the switch's available 60W PoE budget.

For example, installers using infrared cameras or other higher-power devices should check each product's maximum PoE consumption rather than simply assuming that four 30W devices can be powered simultaneously.

The DS-3E1105P-EI V2 supports IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at. It should not be described as a 60W or 90W per-port Hi-PoE or IEEE 802.3bt switch.

PoE Watchdog for Improved CCTV Reliability

PoE Watchdog is available on ports 1 to 4 and is designed to help maintain camera availability. When the switch detects that a connected supported camera is no longer responding, it can automatically restart the relevant PoE port in an attempt to restore communication.

This can reduce the need for an installer or site operator to physically disconnect and reconnect power simply to reboot an unresponsive camera.

PoE Watchdog should not be considered a guarantee that every camera fault can be automatically resolved. Hardware failure, damaged cabling, network configuration problems and other faults may still require investigation.

Up to 300m Long-Range PoE Transmission

Hikvision specifies long-range PoE transmission of up to 300 metres on ports 1 to 4 when the appropriate long-range mode is used.

This can be particularly useful for security installations where cameras need to be positioned significantly farther from the network equipment than in a conventional Ethernet layout, including larger properties, car parks, yards, workshops and commercial sites.

The 300m figure is the manufacturer's maximum rated long-range distance rather than a guaranteed result for every installation. Hikvision notes that long-range performance can vary depending on the camera model and cable condition. Cable quality, termination and connected equipment should therefore be considered during installation.

VIP Priority Ports for Important Camera Traffic

Ports 1 and 2 can operate as VIP ports. When available network bandwidth becomes insufficient, traffic from these designated ports can receive forwarding priority.

This provides installers with a simple way to prioritise particularly important cameras, such as a main entrance, driveway, till area or other critical surveillance position, during periods of network congestion.

802.1Q VLAN Network Management

The DS-3E1105P-EI V2 supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN configuration, allowing compatible network traffic to be logically separated.

Hikvision specifies configurable VLAN IDs from 1 to 4094, Access and Trunk port modes and support for up to 32 VLANs.

Correctly configured VLANs can help create a more organised network and separate CCTV equipment or different classes of network traffic according to the requirements of the installation.

Port Isolation for Additional Network Separation

Port isolation can be applied across ports 1 to 4. Devices within an isolation group cannot communicate directly with one another, while communication with ports outside that isolation group can still be permitted.

This can be useful in suitable CCTV networks where direct camera-to-camera communication is unnecessary and greater separation between endpoint devices is desirable.

STP and RSTP Loop Prevention

The switch supports IEEE 802.1D Spanning Tree Protocol and IEEE 802.1w Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol.

These protocols are designed to help prevent switching loops that could otherwise disrupt communication across a network. Hikvision specifies that loop prevention is disabled by default, so it should be configured appropriately where the network design requires it.

Static Link Aggregation

The DS-3E1105P-EI V2 supports static link aggregation with one aggregation group.

Link aggregation allows multiple appropriate physical connections to be combined into a logical link for compatible network designs. This can be used for functions such as load balancing, aggregate bandwidth or link protection where the connected network equipment supports the required configuration.

Remote Management with Hik-Partner Pro

The switch supports one-click activation and remote management through Hik-Partner Pro, giving professional installers additional visibility and control over compatible deployed networks.

Supported information includes port rate, port bandwidth utilisation, PoE power usage, network topology and alarm status.

Supported remote functions include restarting ports and devices, enabling long-range mode and remotely upgrading the switch. This can make routine CCTV network maintenance more convenient, particularly where equipment is installed at a customer site.

Remote functions depend on suitable internet connectivity, firmware, account configuration and supported Hikvision services.

Web Management, LLDP and Cable Diagnostics

In addition to Hik-Partner Pro, the DS-3E1105P-EI V2 supports device management through a web interface and management through compatible Hik-Central Pro deployments.

DHCP Client is enabled by default for dynamic assignment of the management IP address. Hikvision also specifies a fixed Super IP address of 10.180.190.200 for direct management access when required.

Integrated cable diagnostics can help identify abnormal open circuits, short circuits and approximate network-cable length. IEEE 802.1ab LLDP is supported for peer-device discovery, while port mirroring can assist with network troubleshooting and fault diagnosis.

Fast Ethernet Switching Performance

The DS-3E1105P-EI V2 has a manufacturer-specified switching capacity of 1Gbps and a packet forwarding rate of 0.74Mpps.

The switch uses a 2K MAC address table and 768Kbits of internal cache.

These are network-switch processing specifications and should not be confused with the speed of an individual Ethernet port. Individual ports remain 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet interfaces.

6kV Surge Protection

Hikvision specifies 6kV surge protection, including surge protection for the PoE interfaces. This is designed to provide additional resilience against electrical transients within the manufacturer's specified operating conditions.

Built-in surge protection does not remove the need for correct electrical installation, suitable earthing and additional surge or lightning-protection equipment where the installation environment requires it.

Compact Metal Housing

The DS-3E1105P-EI V2 uses a durable metal enclosure and supports both desktop and wall-mounted installation.

The switch measures approximately 121.1 × 27.6 × 83.1mm and weighs approximately 0.26kg without packaging. Hikvision lists the gross packaged weight at approximately 0.75kg.

The compact format makes it suitable for small CCTV cabinets, communications areas, desks and wall-mounted equipment locations where installation space is limited.

Power and Operating Environment

The switch is specified for a 54V DC, 1.2A power input. Maximum total power consumption is 65W, while manufacturer-listed idle consumption is approximately 0.9W.

The 65W maximum overall power-consumption figure should not be confused with the 60W PoE power budget. The 60W figure describes the maximum combined power available to compatible PoE devices.

The specified operating-temperature range is 0°C to 40°C, with a storage range from -40°C to 85°C. Operating and relative humidity are specified from 5% to 95% under non-condensing conditions.
