Product Overview

The Hikvision DS-2TD2637-35/QY is a professional thermal and optical bi-spectrum network bullet camera designed for long-range perimeter protection, abnormal-temperature monitoring and fire-prevention applications. It combines a dedicated 384 × 288 thermal detector with a separate high-resolution optical camera, allowing operators to view both thermal information and conventional visible-light CCTV images from one surveillance device.

The 35mm thermal lens provides a focused 10.7° × 8° field of view for long-range monitoring, while the optical module provides a 2688 × 1520 image through a separate 12mm lens. Intelligent analytics support human and vehicle classification for perimeter events, while thermal functions can monitor abnormal temperature conditions and detect potential fire points.

This camera is intended for demanding sites such as industrial premises, utility infrastructure, transport facilities, large commercial sites, critical perimeters and environments where conventional visible-light cameras alone may not provide sufficient detection capability.

384 × 288 High-Sensitivity Thermal Imaging

The thermal module uses a Vanadium Oxide uncooled focal-plane array with a native resolution of 384 × 288 pixels and a 17μm pixel pitch. Hikvision specifies thermal sensitivity, or NETD, of 35mK or better at 25°C with an F1.0 aperture.

The thermal response range covers approximately 8μm to 14μm. Rather than depending on visible illumination, the thermal detector analyses differences in emitted thermal energy, allowing targets with sufficient thermal contrast to be detected during darkness and in many difficult lighting conditions.

The camera supports 2x and 4x digital thermal zoom. Digital zoom enlarges the existing thermal image and should not be confused with optical zoom because it does not increase the native thermal detector resolution.

Long-Range 35mm Thermal Lens

The fixed 35mm thermal lens has an F1.0 aperture and provides approximately 10.7° horizontal by 8° vertical coverage. Its minimum specified focusing distance is approximately 30 metres.

This relatively narrow field of view is designed for longer-range monitoring rather than broad close-range coverage. Correct mounting position and target distance are therefore particularly important when planning the installation.

The thermal lens is fixed and does not provide motorised optical zoom or PTZ movement.

Separate 4MP Optical Camera

In addition to the thermal detector, the DS-2TD2637-35/QY contains a separate 1/2.7-inch progressive scan CMOS optical module with a maximum resolution of 2688 × 1520.

The optical channel uses a fixed 12mm lens providing approximately 25.25° horizontal by 14.44° vertical coverage. Hikvision specifies minimum visible-light illumination of approximately 0.0089 lux at F1.6 with automatic gain control enabled.

In UK 50Hz operation, the optical main stream supports up to 25 frames per second at 2688 × 1520. The thermal channel supports up to 25fps.

100 Metre Optical Infrared Illumination

The optical camera includes automatically adjusted infrared illumination with a manufacturer-rated range of up to 100 metres.

This infrared illumination applies to the conventional optical channel. The thermal detector itself does not require IR light to detect thermal contrast.

The 100-metre figure represents the manufacturer's rated IR illumination distance and should not be described as a guaranteed identification distance. Actual optical detail depends on the installation, weather, target size, scene reflectivity and other environmental conditions.

Bi-Spectrum Image Fusion

Bi-spectrum image fusion allows detail from the optical image to be displayed together with thermal information. This can help an operator understand a thermal event by combining heat information with recognisable scene detail from the conventional camera.

Target coloration is also supported in selected white-hot and black-hot thermal modes, helping highlighted targets stand out within the thermal scene.

Bi-spectrum fusion should not be confused with increasing the native thermal resolution. The thermal detector remains 384 × 288.

Human and Vehicle Perimeter Analytics

The camera supports intelligent video-content analysis with human and vehicle classification. Available perimeter rules include line crossing, intrusion, region entrance and region exiting detection, with up to eight VCA rules in total.

Hikvision publishes reference VCA ranges of approximately 245 metres for a human-sized target and 735 metres for a vehicle-sized target with this 35mm thermal configuration.

These are manufacturer planning values and real-world performance can vary according to temperature contrast, weather, target orientation, obstruction, installation height and camera configuration.

Long-Range Thermal DORI Guidance

Hikvision also publishes theoretical thermal DORI-style distances based on Johnson's Criteria. For a typical human target, the reference values are approximately 1029 metres for detection, 257 metres for recognition and 129 metres for identification.

For a typical vehicle target, Hikvision lists approximately 3157 metres for detection, 789 metres for recognition and 395 metres for identification.

These distances are theoretical pixel-density planning references. They do not guarantee facial identification, registration-plate reading or evidential identification at those distances.

Temperature-Exception Monitoring

The DS-2TD2637-35/QY supports three temperature-measurement rule types with up to 21 rules in total, consisting of up to ten points, ten areas and one line.

The specified measurement range is -20°C to 150°C with a manufacturer-stated accuracy of approximately ±8°C.

This makes the product suitable for abnormal-temperature monitoring and fire-prevention applications. It should not be marketed as a precision industrial thermometer, medical thermography system or fever-screening camera because its stated accuracy is not designed for those applications.

Fire Detection and Thermal Range Planning

A thermal fire-detection algorithm is included to help identify abnormal heat sources. Hikvision's reference range table lists fire detection at approximately 210 metres for a 0.2 × 0.2 metre target under the test assumptions used for the table.

The same planning table lists temperature measurement at approximately 82.4 metres for a 0.2 × 0.2 metre object and approximately 206 metres for a 0.5 × 0.5 metre object.

These figures are reference values rather than guaranteed real-world distances. Fire detection is an additional surveillance and early-warning capability and must not be presented as a substitute for a certified fire-alarm or life-safety system.

Local and Network Recording

The camera supports microSD, microSDHC and microSDXC cards with capacities up to 512GB. A memory card is not included unless specifically stated as part of the package being sold.

Compatible NAS storage using NFS or SMB/CIFS is also supported, together with Automatic Network Replenishment for suitable Hikvision recording systems.

H.265 and H.264 compression are supported on the main stream, with MJPEG additionally available on applicable sub-stream configurations.

Audio, Alarm and System Integration

The camera provides one external 3.5mm microphone or line-level audio input and a line-level audio output. A built-in microphone and built-in speaker are not specified, so external audio equipment is required where audio functionality is needed.

Two alarm inputs and two configurable alarm outputs allow integration with suitable external devices. The camera also includes an RS-485 interface and an analogue BNC video output.

Network integration is provided through a 10/100Mbps RJ45 Ethernet interface. Supported Hikvision clients include iVMS-4200 and Hik-Connect, with ONVIF Profiles S, G and T, ISAPI, ISUP and the Hikvision SDK also supported.

Flexible Power and Outdoor Protection

The DS-2TD2637-35/QY supports 12V DC, 24V DC, 24V AC and IEEE 802.3af Class 3 PoE. Maximum rated consumption varies by power method, with PoE specified at up to approximately 10W.

The housing carries IP67 weather protection and an IK10 impact-resistance rating. Hikvision also specifies TVS 4000V lightning, surge and voltage-transient protection.

A NEMA 4X anti-corrosion enclosure is specified. Hikvision categorises this model as providing moderate anti-corrosion protection. It should not automatically be described as suitable for every highly corrosive chemical or marine environment.

The specified operating range is -40°C to 65°C with humidity up to 95%. The camera measures approximately 376.1 × 119.1 × 118.1mm and weighs approximately 1.82kg.
