This Hikvision CCTV kit includes seven DS-2CD2386G2-IU 8MP 2.8mm AcuSense Powered-by-DarkFighter turret network cameras and one DS-7608NXI-K2/8P eight-channel PoE NVR. Seven of the recorder's eight IP camera channels are used by the supplied cameras, leaving one channel available for compatible future expansion. This high-camera-count configuration is designed for residential and commercial properties requiring surveillance across multiple entrances, external areas, internal spaces and other priority locations from one centrally managed Hikvision IP CCTV system.

The standard kit consists of the seven cameras and NVR only. A surveillance hard drive, PoE network cables, camera junction boxes, monitor and other installation accessories are optional and are not included unless separately selected.

What Is Included in This CCTV Kit?

Seven 8MP Cameras for Extensive CCTV Coverage

A seven-camera CCTV system is designed for properties where several separate areas need dedicated surveillance. Around a larger home, the cameras could be positioned across the front entrance, driveway, rear garden, garage, side access, outbuilding and another vulnerable approach. Commercial installations can distribute the seven cameras across entrances, retail floors, reception areas, stock rooms, offices, workshops, loading areas and external approaches.

Each Hikvision DS-2CD2386G2-IU provides a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160, delivering 8MP imaging for detailed surveillance. High-resolution video can help retain useful scene information when camera location, target distance, lighting and viewing angle are appropriate.

The cameras support H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression. Efficient compression is particularly important with seven high-resolution cameras because several video streams must share the recorder's available incoming bandwidth and recording storage.

2.8mm Wide-Angle Viewing

All seven cameras use the 2.8mm fixed-lens version of the DS-2CD2386G2-IU. This lens provides approximately 111 degrees horizontal, 59 degrees vertical and 131 degrees diagonal field of view.

The broad viewing angle makes these cameras useful for entrances, driveways, gardens, retail floors, warehouses, offices, reception areas and similar locations where a large section of the scene should remain visible.

A 2.8mm lens provides broad coverage but naturally places fewer image pixels on distant subjects than a narrower lens. Camera position, mounting height and target distance should therefore be planned carefully where identification detail at a particular point is required.

Powered-by-DarkFighter Low-Light Imaging

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU uses Hikvision Powered-by-DarkFighter technology to improve image performance when available lighting becomes challenging. This can be beneficial around external property areas and internal spaces where lighting conditions change throughout the day.

Integrated infrared illumination provides a specified range of up to 30 metres. When visible lighting becomes insufficient, infrared operation allows the cameras to continue monitoring the scene after dark.

This model is not a ColorVu camera. It should therefore be described accurately as using Powered-by-DarkFighter low-light technology with infrared night surveillance rather than guaranteed continuous full-colour imaging in complete darkness.

AcuSense Human and Vehicle Classification

Hikvision AcuSense technology uses deep-learning based analysis to help distinguish human and vehicle targets in supported intelligent events. This can make event-based surveillance more useful by helping the system focus on activity involving people and vehicles.

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports intelligent functions including line crossing detection, intrusion detection, region entrance detection and region exiting detection with human and vehicle classification.

Practical performance depends on target size, camera position, viewing angle, lighting conditions and event configuration. Intelligent detection should therefore be configured individually for each camera location.

Built-In Microphones on All Seven Cameras

Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU includes a built-in microphone. When compatible audio recording is enabled, sound can be recorded alongside camera video.

Audio can provide additional context around entrances, reception areas, counters, offices and other suitable monitored spaces. Any use of CCTV audio should comply with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.

The cameras do not include integrated loudspeakers, so they should not be described as having built-in two-way audio, audible warning speakers or active deterrence functionality.

DS-7608NXI-K2/8P 8-Channel PoE NVR

The supplied DS-7608NXI-K2/8P is an eight-channel Hikvision network video recorder with eight integrated PoE camera interfaces. Compatible PoE cameras can connect directly to the recorder through suitable Ethernet cabling for both network communication and camera power.

Seven of the eight available IP camera channels are used by this kit. One channel remains available for a compatible future camera.

The recorder supports up to 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth. Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports a configurable main video bitrate up to 16 Mbps. Seven cameras operating at their individual maximum video bitrate could theoretically require up to 112 Mbps of main-stream bandwidth, which exceeds the recorder's 80 Mbps incoming-bandwidth specification.

Required Bandwidth Configuration for Seven Cameras

This seven-camera configuration must therefore use suitable bitrate settings. The combined incoming camera traffic must remain within the NVR's available 80 Mbps bandwidth.

If the full 80 Mbps were divided equally across seven cameras, the mathematical ceiling would be approximately 11.4 Mbps per camera before allowing for operating headroom or other stream traffic. In practical use, the configured average should remain below that theoretical ceiling so the recorder is not continuously operated at its absolute incoming-bandwidth limit.

H.265+ compression can help reduce bandwidth and recording-storage requirements. The ideal bitrate depends on scene complexity, frame rate, recording quality and surveillance requirements, so a single fixed value should not be applied automatically to every camera.

Seven-Camera 8MP Live-View Considerations

The number of camera inputs and the number of high-resolution streams that an NVR can decode simultaneously are different specifications. The recorder can accept seven compatible cameras when the incoming bandwidth is configured appropriately, but it cannot simultaneously decode seven full-resolution 8MP streams.

Suitable sub-streams should therefore be used for multi-camera live-view layouts. Lower-resolution viewing streams can be displayed simultaneously while the cameras continue recording with their configured main streams.

This is especially relevant when all seven cameras are displayed together on one monitor. The live-view layout should use appropriate stream settings rather than attempting to decode every channel at full 8MP resolution simultaneously.

PoE Capacity for Seven Cameras

Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports IEEE 802.3af PoE and has a maximum specified PoE consumption of approximately 6.8W. Seven cameras therefore create a theoretical maximum combined PoE camera load of approximately 47.6W.

The DS-7608NXI-K2/8P provides up to 80W of total PoE power. The seven supplied cameras therefore remain comfortably within the recorder's available PoE budget.

Suitable PoE-compatible Ethernet cabling is required between every camera and the recorder. Network cables are optional and are not included as standard.

Optional Surveillance HDD

A surveillance hard drive is not included as standard. Customers who require central recording and playback through the NVR should add a compatible surveillance HDD.

The DS-7608NXI-K2/8P provides two SATA interfaces, allowing recording storage to be selected according to the required retention period and installation requirements.

Seven 8MP cameras can generate a substantial amount of recording data. Storage consumption depends on camera bitrate, frame rate, compression, recording schedule, scene complexity and activity levels.

A guaranteed number of recording days should not be published without completing a storage calculation based on the actual recording configuration.

Local Display and Remote Viewing

The NVR provides HDMI and VGA outputs for connection to a compatible monitor. A monitor is not included as standard but can be selected separately for local live viewing, playback and recorder configuration.

Compatible Hikvision software and services can also be configured for remote viewing. Internet access, correct network configuration, account setup and suitable security settings are required for remote access.

When displaying several cameras simultaneously, suitable sub-stream settings should be used to remain within the NVR's decoding capability.

One Channel Available for Future Expansion

The seven included cameras use seven of the recorder's eight IP camera channels, leaving one channel available for a compatible future camera.

Adding an eighth camera requires more than an unused channel. The complete system must still remain within incoming-bandwidth, PoE, decoding and recording-storage limits.

Because seven 8MP cameras already require controlled bitrate configuration to remain within the 80 Mbps incoming-bandwidth specification, the bandwidth impact of any eighth camera should be assessed carefully before it is added.

Installation and Optional Accessories

The standard kit includes seven cameras and one NVR only. Appropriate Ethernet cabling, recording storage, camera mounting accessories and other installation materials should be selected separately for the individual property.

The Hikvision DS-1280ZJ-PT6 is a compatible optional junction-box choice for the DS-2CD2386G2-IU. Junction boxes are not included as standard.

Other installation requirements may include suitable wall or ceiling fixings, conduit, cable protection, network equipment, a surveillance HDD, monitor, additional cable lengths or other site-specific materials.
