This Hikvision CCTV kit includes six DS-2CD2386G2-IU 8MP 2.8mm AcuSense Powered-by-DarkFighter turret network cameras and one DS-7608NXI-K2/8P eight-channel PoE NVR. The six supplied cameras occupy six of the recorder's eight IP camera channels, leaving two channels available for compatible future expansion. This configuration is designed for homes, shops, offices, warehouses and other properties requiring surveillance across several separate areas from one centrally managed Hikvision IP CCTV system.

The standard kit consists of the six cameras and NVR only. A surveillance hard drive, PoE network cables, camera junction boxes, monitor and other installation accessories are optional and are not included unless separately selected.

What Is Included in This CCTV Kit?

Six 8MP Cameras for Extensive Property Coverage

A six-camera CCTV system provides considerably more positioning flexibility than smaller camera-count configurations. Around a residential property, six cameras could be planned to monitor a driveway, front entrance, rear garden, side passage, garage and another vulnerable access point. In a commercial environment, cameras could cover customer entrances, retail floors, offices, stock rooms, loading areas, workshops or external approaches.

Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU provides a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160, delivering 8MP imaging for detailed CCTV surveillance. High-resolution footage can preserve useful visual information across monitored areas when camera location, target distance and lighting conditions are appropriate.

The cameras support H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 video compression. Efficient compression becomes particularly important in a six-camera 8MP installation because several high-resolution video streams must share the recorder's available network bandwidth and recording storage.

2.8mm Wide-Angle Camera Coverage

All six cameras use the 2.8mm fixed-lens version of the DS-2CD2386G2-IU. The lens provides approximately 111 degrees horizontal, 59 degrees vertical and 131 degrees diagonal field of view.

This wide viewing angle makes the cameras useful for locations where broad coverage is preferred, including entrances, driveways, gardens, shop floors, offices, reception areas, stock rooms and workshops.

A 2.8mm lens displays a wide scene, but distant targets naturally occupy fewer pixels than they would through a narrower lens. Camera positions should therefore be selected according to the areas where useful identification detail is required.

Powered-by-DarkFighter Low-Light Technology

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU uses Hikvision Powered-by-DarkFighter technology to improve imaging when available light levels become challenging. This can help retain useful image information around external areas and indoor environments where lighting changes considerably throughout the day.

Each camera also includes infrared illumination with a specified range of up to 30 metres. When visible light becomes insufficient, infrared operation enables continued surveillance after dark.

This camera is not a ColorVu model. It should therefore be described accurately as using Powered-by-DarkFighter low-light technology combined with infrared night monitoring rather than continuous full-colour night surveillance.

AcuSense Human and Vehicle Classification

Hikvision AcuSense technology uses deep-learning based analysis to help distinguish human and vehicle targets during supported intelligent events. This can make event-based surveillance more useful by helping the system focus on activity involving people and vehicles.

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports intelligent functions including line crossing detection, intrusion detection, region entrance detection and region exiting detection with human and vehicle target classification.

Practical detection results depend on camera positioning, target size, viewing angle, lighting conditions and event configuration. Intelligent functions should therefore be configured for each individual camera position rather than relying entirely on default settings.

Built-In Microphone on All Six Cameras

Every DS-2CD2386G2-IU in this kit includes a built-in microphone. When audio recording is correctly configured, compatible sound can be recorded alongside the camera video.

This can provide additional context around entrances, customer areas, reception desks and other suitable locations. CCTV audio should always be used in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.

The cameras do not include integrated loudspeakers, so they should not be described as providing built-in two-way audio, an audible warning speaker or active deterrence.

DS-7608NXI-K2/8P 8-Channel PoE NVR

The supplied DS-7608NXI-K2/8P is an eight-channel Hikvision network video recorder with eight integrated PoE camera interfaces. Compatible PoE cameras can connect directly to the recorder through suitable Ethernet cabling, allowing the same cable to carry network communication and electrical power.

Six recorder channels are used by the supplied cameras, leaving two channels available for future compatible expansion.

The NVR provides up to 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth. Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports a configurable video bitrate ranging up to 16 Mbps. Six cameras operating at their individual maximum 16 Mbps bitrate could theoretically require 96 Mbps, which exceeds the recorder's 80 Mbps incoming-bandwidth specification.

Important Bandwidth Configuration for Six Cameras

The six-camera configuration therefore requires sensible bitrate management. The combined incoming traffic from all connected cameras must remain within the NVR's 80 Mbps incoming-bandwidth limit.

If the available incoming bandwidth were divided equally between six cameras, the mathematical maximum would be approximately 13.3 Mbps per camera before allowing for other stream traffic or operating headroom. In practical use, camera bitrate settings should be configured lower than this ceiling and the overall incoming traffic should be checked after configuration.

H.265+ compression can help reduce required bitrate and storage usage. The appropriate bitrate depends on scene complexity, required frame rate, recording quality and surveillance objectives, so one fixed bitrate should not be treated as correct for every installation.

Important Multi-Camera 8MP Live-View Limitation

Recorder input capacity and simultaneous decoding capacity are separate specifications. Although the DS-7608NXI-K2/8P has eight camera inputs and can be configured with six compatible 8MP cameras within its incoming-bandwidth limit, it cannot simultaneously decode six full-resolution 8MP streams.

Appropriate sub-streams should therefore be used for multi-camera live-view layouts. Lower-resolution viewing streams can be displayed simultaneously while the cameras continue recording using their configured main streams.

This distinction is particularly important where a customer plans to display all six cameras on one local monitor at the same time. Multi-screen viewing should use appropriate stream settings rather than expecting six simultaneous 8MP decoding streams.

PoE Capacity for Six Cameras

Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports IEEE 802.3af PoE and has a maximum specified PoE consumption of approximately 6.8W. Six cameras therefore represent a theoretical maximum combined camera PoE load of approximately 40.8W.

The DS-7608NXI-K2/8P provides a total PoE budget of up to 80W. The six included cameras therefore remain comfortably within the recorder's available PoE power capacity.

Suitable PoE-compatible Ethernet cables are required to connect each camera to the NVR. Network cables are optional and are not included as standard.

Optional Surveillance Hard Drive

A surveillance hard drive is not included as standard with this kit. Customers who require central recording and playback through the NVR should add a compatible surveillance HDD.

The DS-7608NXI-K2/8P provides two SATA interfaces, allowing storage capacity to be selected according to the required recording-retention period and potential future camera expansion.

Six 8MP cameras can create a substantial amount of recording data. Recording duration depends on bitrate, frame rate, video compression, recording schedule, scene complexity and the amount of movement within each monitored area.

A guaranteed number of recording days should not be stated without completing a storage calculation using the intended settings.

Local Display and Remote Viewing

The NVR provides HDMI and VGA outputs for connection to a compatible monitor. A monitor is optional and is not included with the standard kit.

Compatible Hikvision software and services can also be configured for remote viewing. Remote access requires suitable internet connectivity, correct network configuration, account setup and appropriate security settings.

For six-camera simultaneous live viewing, appropriate sub-stream settings should be used to remain within the recorder's decoding capability.

Two Spare Channels for Future Expansion

The six supplied cameras use six of the NVR's eight camera channels, leaving two channels available for compatible future cameras.

Future expansion requires more than simply having unused channels. Additional cameras must also fit within the recorder's incoming bandwidth, PoE budget, decoding capability and available recording storage.

Because six 8MP cameras can already exceed the NVR's bandwidth limit if all are configured at their maximum individual bitrate, careful bandwidth planning becomes particularly important before adding a seventh or eighth camera.

Installation and Optional Accessories

The standard kit includes six cameras and one NVR only. Suitable network cabling, recording storage and camera mounting accessories should be selected separately according to the individual installation.

The Hikvision DS-1280ZJ-PT6 is a compatible optional junction-box choice for the DS-2CD2386G2-IU. One may be selected for each camera where required, but junction boxes are not included as standard.

Additional installation requirements may include Ethernet cable, wall or ceiling fixings, conduit, cable protection, a surveillance HDD, monitor, network equipment or other site-specific materials.
