This Hikvision CCTV kit includes five DS-2CD2386G2-IU 8MP 2.8mm AcuSense Powered-by-DarkFighter turret network cameras and one DS-7608NXI-K2/8P eight-channel PoE NVR. The five supplied cameras occupy five of the recorder's eight IP camera channels, leaving three channels available for compatible future expansion. This configuration is designed for homes, retail premises, offices, warehouses and other properties that require several surveillance areas to be monitored from one expandable Hikvision IP CCTV system.

The standard kit consists of the five cameras and NVR only. A surveillance hard drive, PoE network cables, camera junction boxes, monitor and other installation accessories are optional and are not included unless separately selected.

What Is Included in This CCTV Kit?

Five 8MP Cameras for Broader CCTV Coverage

A five-camera CCTV configuration gives greater flexibility for properties with several important surveillance points. Around a home, cameras could cover the driveway, front entrance, rear garden, garage and side access. In a commercial setting, five cameras could monitor entrances, customer areas, offices, stock rooms, workshops, loading areas or other high-priority locations.

Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU provides a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2160, delivering 8MP imaging for detailed surveillance. Higher pixel density can help preserve useful scene information when camera placement, viewing distance and lighting are appropriate.

The cameras support H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression. Efficient H.265+ configuration can help control network bandwidth and storage requirements, which becomes increasingly important as more high-resolution cameras are added to a system.

2.8mm Wide-Angle Coverage

All five cameras supplied in this kit use the 2.8mm fixed-lens version of the DS-2CD2386G2-IU. The lens provides approximately 111 degrees horizontal, 59 degrees vertical and 131 degrees diagonal field of view.

This broad viewing angle makes the cameras suitable for entrances, driveways, retail floors, offices, workshops, reception areas and other spaces where wide coverage is more useful than a narrow long-distance view.

A 2.8mm camera captures a broad scene, but distant subjects naturally occupy fewer pixels than they would through a narrower lens. Correct mounting location and distance should therefore be considered where detailed identification is required.

Powered-by-DarkFighter Low-Light Performance

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU uses Hikvision Powered-by-DarkFighter technology to improve performance in challenging low-light conditions. This helps the cameras retain useful image information as ambient lighting decreases.

Integrated infrared illumination provides a specified range of up to 30 metres for monitoring when visible light becomes insufficient. Practical night performance depends on the scene, mounting position, reflective surfaces and surrounding environmental conditions.

This model is not a ColorVu camera. It uses Powered-by-DarkFighter technology together with infrared illumination rather than continuous full-colour imaging in complete darkness.

AcuSense Human and Vehicle Classification

Hikvision AcuSense technology uses deep-learning based target classification to help distinguish people and vehicles during supported intelligent events. This can help reduce less relevant event activity and make CCTV alerts and searches more useful.

The DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports functions including line crossing detection, intrusion detection, region entrance detection and region exiting detection with human and vehicle classification.

Detection accuracy still depends on camera position, target size, lighting, viewing angle and configuration. Intelligent events should therefore be configured for the individual surveillance area.

Built-In Microphone on Every Camera

Each of the five DS-2CD2386G2-IU cameras includes an integrated microphone. When compatible audio recording is enabled, sound can be recorded alongside the video stream.

Audio can provide useful additional context around entrances, reception desks, customer areas and other appropriate locations. Customers should ensure that CCTV audio recording is used in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements.

The cameras do not contain integrated loudspeakers and should therefore not be described as providing built-in two-way audio or audible active deterrence.

8-Channel DS-7608NXI-K2/8P PoE NVR

The supplied DS-7608NXI-K2/8P is an eight-channel Hikvision AcuSense network video recorder with eight integrated PoE interfaces. Compatible PoE cameras can connect directly to the recorder using suitable Ethernet cabling for both network data and camera power.

Five recorder channels are occupied by the supplied cameras, leaving three channels available for compatible future expansion.

The NVR supports up to 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth. Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports a configurable video bitrate up to 16 Mbps. Five cameras configured at the individual maximum main-stream bitrate could therefore theoretically reach 80 Mbps in total, which equals the recorder's maximum incoming-bandwidth specification.

For this reason, practical camera bitrate settings should be configured so the total incoming traffic remains within the recorder's available bandwidth. Efficient H.265+ compression and sensible bitrate settings can help maintain appropriate operating headroom.

Important 8MP Decoding Consideration

Camera-input capacity and simultaneous decoding capacity are different specifications. Although the NVR can accept five compatible 8MP cameras within its eight-channel input architecture, it cannot simultaneously decode five full-resolution 8MP streams at maximum decoding conditions.

Multi-camera live view should therefore use appropriate sub-streams, layout settings or lower-resolution viewing streams where necessary. Full-resolution recordings can still be retained according to the configured recording settings while lower-bandwidth streams are used for multi-camera live viewing.

This limitation is particularly important for customers who expect to display all five cameras simultaneously at full 8MP resolution. The system should be configured according to the required live-view layout and recording priorities.

PoE Capacity for Five Cameras

Each DS-2CD2386G2-IU supports IEEE 802.3af PoE and has a maximum specified PoE consumption of approximately 6.8W. Five cameras therefore represent a theoretical maximum combined camera load of approximately 34W.

The DS-7608NXI-K2/8P provides a total PoE budget of up to 80W. The five supplied cameras therefore remain comfortably within the recorder's PoE power capacity.

Suitable PoE-compatible Ethernet cables are required between each camera and the NVR. Network cables are optional and are not included as standard.

Optional Surveillance HDD

A surveillance hard drive is not included with the standard kit. Customers who require central recording and playback through the NVR should add a compatible surveillance HDD.

The recorder provides two SATA interfaces, allowing storage capacity to be selected according to the required retention period and future camera-expansion plans.

Five 8MP cameras can generate significant recording data. Actual storage duration depends on bitrate, frame rate, compression, recording schedule, motion within the scene and other settings. A fixed recording duration should therefore not be promised without completing a storage calculation for the intended configuration.

Local and Remote Viewing

The NVR provides HDMI and VGA outputs for connection to a compatible monitor. A monitor is optional and is not included with the standard kit.

Compatible Hikvision services and software can also provide network and mobile viewing when correctly configured. Remote viewing requires suitable internet connectivity, account setup, network configuration and appropriate security settings.

Three Spare Channels for Expansion

The five-camera configuration leaves three of the eight recorder channels unused. This provides room to expand the system later without immediately replacing the NVR.

Future cameras must remain compatible with the recorder and within its incoming-bandwidth, PoE, decoding and storage capabilities. Because five 8MP cameras can already theoretically reach the recorder's full 80 Mbps incoming bandwidth when each is configured at its maximum video bitrate, additional cameras make appropriate bitrate planning increasingly important.

Installation and Optional Accessories

This standard package includes five cameras and one NVR only. An appropriate Ethernet cable is required for each camera, and cable lengths should be selected according to the actual installation routes.

The Hikvision DS-1280ZJ-PT6 is a compatible optional junction-box choice for the DS-2CD2386G2-IU. Junction boxes are not included as standard.

Additional installation requirements may include a surveillance HDD, monitor, wall or ceiling fixings, conduit, cable protection, additional network equipment or other site-specific materials.
